CMP Answers (March 2010):
1. When negotiating with a hotel, what information best prepares you for the negotiating session?
- size of a group
- number of food functions to be held
- number of sleeping rooms needed
- total dollar value of the meeting
2. When negotiating the price for services at your selected facility, you should:
- determine what price you can afford and not offer anything above that
- establish a range of prices for each required service and try to reach an agreement that serves the best interest of your organization and the facility
- always try to get the lowest price you can for services
- never give in to the facility or trade higher prices for some services for other concessions
