WHAT ARE THE EMPI AWARDS?

EMPI (Excellence in MPI) Awards are awarded to MPI MN members who exemplify strong support and participation needed to help the chapter and industry grow and succeed.

WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?

Any MPI MN member in good standing may be nominated in as many categories for which he or she may be qualified as a recipient. Members are also encouraged to nominate themselves.

Each time you nominate a member for an EMPI, your name will be entered for two different prizes donated by Treasure Island Casino.

HOW ARE THE WINNERS SELECTED?

Nominees will be notified upon receipt of their nomination and will be required to supply additional supporting information. An independent panel of judges, comprised of both planners and suppliers and headed by a member of the Recognition Committee, will review all nominations and select the winner that best exemplifies the criteria of each award category. The guidelines established by MPI International will be followed.

A minimum of three (3) nominations per category are needed to qualify as an award category. In the event the nomination numbers for a particular category falls below this minimum, review committee will alert the individual that made the nomination.

EMPI AWARD DESCRIPTIONS

Meeting/Event of the Year – The Meeting of the Year Award recognizes a meeting or event that was planned/produced by a MPI MN member/company held during the current chapter year (April 2009 - March 2010). The event/meeting demonstrated (or will demonstrate) outstanding planning and execution, and utilization of local or national MPI resources.

Meeting Planner of the Year – The Meeting Planner of the Year Award recognizes an active planner member who has made significant contributions to both MPI MN and the meeting management profession.

Supplier of the Year – The Supplier of the Year Award recognizes the contributions of an active supplier member who consistently provides innovative services and/or products to effectively support MPI MN and its members.

Best Supporting Company of the Year – The Best Supporting Company of the Year Award recognizes the outstanding support an MPI MN member’s company gave our local chapter throughout the July 2009 - July2010 year. This award highlights the company’s dedicated services and time to the Meeting Professionals International Minnesota chapter.

Outstanding Chapter Member of the Year (was outstanding leader of the year) – The Outstanding Chapter Member of the Year Award is given in recognition to a MPI MN member (planner or supplier) who inspires others, stimulates volunteer efforts, and contributes to the continued enhancement of our chapter through committee involvement. (Must currently participate in a MPI committee)

Rising Star of the Year (was Rookie of the Year) – The Rising Star of the Year Award rewards an MPI MN member of 2 years or less from July 2008 to July 2010. This member must show strong commitment and support, and has contributed extraordinarily to our chapter with their dedication, vision, enthusiasm and willingness to volunteer their efforts.

Mentor of the Year – The Mentor of the Year Award recognizes an active MPI MN member who supports and participates in the mentoring goals of our chapter. This individual dedicates themselves to helping others through mentoring and coaching including new chapter members, those in our chapter who may be interested in enriching their professional lives and those individuals who may be interested in entering the meetings industry.
