What are the EMPI Awards?

EMPI (Excellence in MPI) Awards are awarded to MPI MN members who exemplify strong support and participation needed to help the chapter and industry grow and succeed.

Who can be nominated?

Any MPI MN member in good standing may be nominated in as many categories for which he or she may be qualified as a recipient. Members are also encouraged to nominate themselves.

EMPI nomination process

The nomination process will be electronic. It is a four-step process that will include information from both the nominator and the nominee.

STEP 1:

Start creating your nomination information in a Word document. This will allow you to copy/paste the information into the Online Nomination Form and also to e-mail the document with your nomination information to the nominee. (Because of some website transitions at the MPI MN office, we are using SurveyMonkey this year and it has some limitations.)

STEP 2:

Complete the Online Nomination Form. You will be asked to provide a summary of how the nominee meets the criteria specified for the award category. Copy/paste the information from your Word document into each section for the specific criteria. The nomination form will be submitted to the MPI MN office.

STEP 3:

Nominator will e-mail a copy of the Word document to the nominee with the nomination information. (The nominee will add the additional supporting information needed for the nomination.)

STEP 4:

A member of the Recognition committee will contact the nominee via e-mail with a request to provide additional information to substantiate the nomination, provide more details of the achievements, and supply letters of recommendation (if applicable for the award category). The nominee will send all information to the MPI MN office by the deadline date (April 4, 2012).

Deadline for nominations is April 4, 2012.

What is the deadline to submit a nomination?

The MPI MN office must receive all documents and information by Wednesday, April 4, 2012. A completed entry must include the following:

  1. Online nomination form
  2. Additional information provided by the nominated individual or company documenting how s/he met the award criteria
  3. Letters of recommendation (if required for the award)

No hard copies will be accepted. Entries should be submitted to Melissa Palank at office@mpimn.org.

How are the winners selected?

All nominations and supporting materials will be distributed to a panel of judges for review. The judges will review each nomination individually and rate each nomination based on the information provided and how well it meets the specified criteria. The nomination that best meets the specified criteria is the winner. The judges are individuals who have been members of MPI for a minimum of two (2) years and who have served on the board of directors or been a previous EMPI winner. The judging panel is made up of equal planner and supplier representation. Judges are not eligible for an EMPI nomination if they are currently serving as a judge. All members of the judging panel are kept confidential until the awards program in May. The winners will be announced at the May EMPI Awards Gala. Winners are not notified in advance.

A minimum of three (3) nominations per category are needed to qualify as an award category. In the event the nomination numbers for a particular category falls below this minimum, review committee will alert the individual that made the nomination.
